Burlingame Interior Renovation
A young couple purchased a fixer-upper in Burlingame with a fabulous view toward San Francisco on one side, and a private ravine view from the back. The interior hadn't been updated since it was originally constructed, and SDA's input brought this home into the new century, in line with the owner's vision -
Thomas Residence
Oakland, California, 2011. The driving force behind this project was the acquisition of a refurbished antique refrigerator. This led to remodeling the kitchen to highlight the mid-century modern aesthetic. The project also included relocating the stairs to the lower level and remodeling a down stairs bath. -
Abinsay Residence
Berkeley, California, 2011. The owners of this traditional California wanted to add an additional bedroom and a master bath to their house. By reconfiguring space SDA helped them to realize their goals. -
Pritchard Residence - Conceptual Study
Oakland, California, 2009. The homeowners feel like their kitchen is too small and outdated to serve their current need. Additionally the circulation through the house is problematic. SDA has completed a conceptual design study generating several options for this client ranging from an interior remodel as the simplest intervention, to a possible 2-story addition. -
Feck Residence
Oakland, California, 2008. Remodeled 1200 SF one-story bungalow to provide additional new bedroom and new bathroom, all within existing footprint of home. Included new kitchen with breakfast bar and more open circulation plan, respecting original detailing style of this early 20th century home. -
Newark Remodel and Addition
Newark, California, 2005-2008. Enlarged remodeled kitchen, enlarged remodeled bathroom, new laundry room (all within existing footprint), new master closet/bathroom addition (120 SF), to existing 1400 SF one-story ranch style home. Theresa Dias. -
Rocha Residence Addition/Remodel
Fremont, California, 2006-2007. 500 SF addition(s) to existing 1600 SF single-story ranch style home. A full renovation complete with three modest additions gives a new life to the home of a family with growing children. Spaces flow into one another but remain distinct with varying ceiling planes. The owners regularly host large get-togethers for relatives, and the open floor plan accomodates rearranged furniture and extra dining tables. At other times, there are separate places for homework, play time, and casual living -- letting everyone stay connected but with comfortable elbow room. Theresa Dias. -

Lawler Residence, New Construction
New Durham, New Hampshire, 2000. Custom designed home; the design expresses a traditional New England vernacular while taking advantage of a hill side site. The design allows for the primary living space to occur on one level to meet the physical needs of the homeowner while maximizing family flexibility by making use of additional space on multiple levels.
